Award to a USA teacher in a two-year college to recognize contributions to the profession. Nominations are welcomed for individuals who have contributed positively to professional leadership and have shown excellence in teaching. Eligible nominees demonstrate such outstanding personal qualities as creativity, sensitivity, and leadership.

Grants to Colorado nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to support the participation of local youth in activities. The purpose of the program is to enable youth from families in financial need to take part in opportunities for which they lack the financial resources. Funds may be used for activities that include, but are not limited to, school trips, sports, educational pursuits, and arts and cultural programs. Requests will be accepted from nonprofits in Grand County.

Grants to USA authors to cover costs related to publications about historical prints. The purpose of the grant program is to support the preservation, collection, exhibition, or study of prints that reflect or depict topics relevant to North American culture and history.

Grants of up to $20,000 to USA Native American youth and young adults partnering with nonprofit organizations, schools, or tribal organizations for projects that promote positive change in their communities. Funding is intended to recognize Native youth, ages 18-30, who are making a difference in their communities and who are healing centuries of injustice.

Grant to a USA nonprofit organization for a project to protect and manage water sources. Funding is intended to address groundwater and watershed supplies to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. Eligible projects could include management through reducing the impact of extreme weather events; innovative approaches to responsible land and water management; or remediation of impacted watersheds.

Fellowships to USA, Canada, and International scholars to pursue humanities-related projects at an institute in Illinois. Funding is intended to facilitate research and the use of the Foundation's resources for a limited period of time. Several categories of fellowships are available. Applications that propose productive use of the Newberry’s collections are more likely to receive fellowship awards. The fellowships will take place at the Newberry in Chicago.

Grants of up to $6,000 to USA nonprofit organizations to support the provision of literacy services for students. Funding is intended for general operations, including but not limited to equipment, supplies, salaries, space rental, technology, teacher stipends, and more. Proposals may also focus on a particular project or new programming effort.

Fellowships of $5,000 to USA high school teachers to pursue writing projects. Applications are welcome from current teachers of grades 9-12 who consider themselves creative writers. Funding is intended to support the writing of new works in progress. The goal of the program is to allow fellows to focus on their writing over summer break.

Competition for USA, Canada, and International photographers for images in a selection of categories. There will be an award for the overall winner of the open competition and another for female photographers entering the competition, as well as 15 shortlisted photographers per category. The contest is open to all members of the public; images must be taken in 2024. Winners will be announced at a formal ceremony in London.

Competition for USA, Canada, and International young photographers to submit their favorite images taken in 2024. All genres, styles, and approaches are welcome; the contest is for applicants ages 19 and under. A shortlist of up to 9 individuals will be selected; the winner will be named Youth Photographer of the Year and will receive photographic equipment and free travel and accommodation to an awards ceremony.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses, IHEs and Tribes to strengthen the capabilities of maternal and child health programs. Funding is intended for collaborative and coordinated support efforts in the areas of training, peer-to-peer learning, and education. Recipients will be funded to align key activities and increase capacity of state and local MCH leaders toward a more effective, coordinated system of MCH care.

Opportunity for USA military service members, veterans, and civilians to participate in a professional development program to further their work in enhancing the quality of life of veterans and military families. Selected participants will attend sessions on military transition issues over a five-month period that will sharpen their leadership skills, expand their network, and advance individual projects. Four of the five modules of the program take place in Dallas, with the remaining module in an additional city to be announced at a later date.

Fellowship of $5,000 to a USA scholar for research projects related to the musical and artistic traditions of Louisiana. The purpose of the program is to encourage the scholarly use of local historical resources and the production of new scholarship related to the artistic heritage of Louisiana.

Opportunity for California public libraries to participate in a professional development program to encourage immigrant engagement. The program includes a grant and other support that will enable library staff to design and implement a public humanities project at their library. The purpose of the program is to improve the capacity of libraries to engage immigrant populations through public humanities programs, thereby fostering more inclusive communities.

Fellowships of $8,000 to USA, Canada, and International researchers to study race and slavery at a university in the United States. The purpose of the program is to facilitate research regarding the impact of slavery and race on the United States and the world at large. The fellowship will take place at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International early-career researchers in the fields of circadian and sleep research for assistance in submitting applications for federal funding. Funding is intended for projects that address important issues related to sleep health, circadian science, and sleep disorders.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International nonprofit organizations, IHEs, research institutions, and for-profits for initiatives addressing nutrition. Funding is intended to support projects that will have a significant impact in the fields of healthy diets, sustainable production, and consumer benefit.

Grants to USA and Canada educators at academic institutions to expand a lighting program. Funding is intended for the development of courses that improve instruction in lighting within the applicant institution. Benefit costs are allowable. Proposals that are multidisciplinary are encouraged. The program must be accredited and offer a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree.

Grants of up to $30,000 to USA and Canada educators at academic institutions for the addition of a lighting design component to an existing curriculum. Funding is intended to enhance programs in interior design, engineering, technology, and architecture. Eligible IHE programs should currently have either minimal or no lighting design offerings in their curricula. The program must be accredited and offer a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree.

Fellowship of $20,000 to a USA or Canada lighting educator at an academic institution for the opportunity to work in the industry or at an IHE with an established lighting program. The program is intended to expand the fellow's knowledge of architectural lighting, thereby improving their instruction on the subject. The participant will spend a significant portion of a semester in the lighting industry working with a manufacturing or design firm, or at a college or university with a thriving lighting program working with an established professor.

Grants to USA and territories nonprofit and for-profit organizations, agencies, IHEs, and tribal entities for AIDS research conducted by investigators from diverse backgrounds. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended to enable a pool of investigators from diverse backgrounds to submit subsequent R01 or equivalent applications through the support of these small research grants, as well as receive additional independent research grant awards, produce research results, and author publications.

Award to a USA, Canada, or International emerging woman playwright to recognize exceptional creative talent. The award is intended to honor full-length works written for theater production. In addition to a monetary prize, the winner will be given the opportunity to present a public reading and participate in a summer workshop as part of the Powerhouse Theater Program at Vassar College. All women, trans, and non-binary playwrights who consider themselves emerging (as distinct from fledgling or mid-career playwrights) are eligible to apply.

Opportunity for USA active, guard, and reserve military, veterans, and their immediate family members to participate in a business development program. Successful applicants will participate in an entrepreneurship accelerator. Sessions take place virtually and are given by a live instructor. The program will take place over an eight-week period.

Funding is intended for strategies to implement reform in systems and structures that foster disparities in treatment, care, and outcomes.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations, government agencies, tribal entities, and IHEs for humanities programs that serve the general public. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended to support projects that reach broad and diverse public audiences in non-classroom settings in the United States. Projects should engage with ideas that are accessible to the general public and employ appealing interpretive formats.

Grants to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, agencies, IHEs, and tribal entities to develop and produce humanities-related media projects. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for projects such as the development, production, and distribution of media that engage general audiences with humanities ideas.

Grants to USA nonprofit institutions for research to improve the lives of American children and youth up to age 25. Funding is intended to support the effective exploration of policies and activities that address inequality for young people. Priority is given to studies about reducing inequality on the basis of race, ethnicity, economic standing, language minority status, or immigrant origins.

Grants to USA charter organizations and school districts to support the development of new and innovative schools. Hybrid and virtual models may be eligible. The purpose of the funding program is to enhance outcomes for all students, with special emphasis on students of color, those experiencing poverty, and those with learning differences.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for research to benefit youth throughout the country. This program funds investigation into how and what type of research is used by policymakers and others when developing policies and programs affecting young people ages 5-25 in the United States. The Foundation's goal is to determine whether improving research use leads to improved youth outcomes. Two types of grants are available: Major Grants and smaller Officers' Research Grants.

Grants and in-kind support to USA nonprofit and for-profit organizations for initiatives to improve education. The program supports early-stage organizations and new programs within existing organizations that accelerate math and literacy achievement, assist students with learning differences, and enhance the role and effectiveness of the teaching profession. Grants of up to $25,000 to Colorado nonprofit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and businesses for agricultural projects in eligible locations. Funding is intended for programs and activities that benefit local food systems and agricultural lands. The goal of the grant program is to support projects that build resilience and decrease environmental harm in Boulder County’s local food system.

Opportunity for USA and Puerto Rico medical students from underrepresented populations to participate in an externship. The purpose of the program is to provide participants with training in the following three categories: leadership development, clinical research, and community engagement. The stipend is expected to cover travel, living, and lodging expenses.

Awards of $36,000 to USA Jewish teenagers to recognize outstanding leadership in community service. Awards will recognize teens who have demonstrated initiative in the creation of new projects or the expansion of existing projects that embody the concept of tikkun olam (repairing the world). Eligible awardees are Jewish teens between the ages of 13 and 19 who are currently serving in a leadership role and volunteering without any compensation.

Grants of up to $10,000 to USA nonprofit organizations, IHEs, Tribes, and government agencies to enhance the care and conservation of noteworthy humanities collections. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take up to a month to finalize. Funding is intended to help small and mid-sized institutions that have never received an NEH grant to improve their ability to preserve and care for their significant humanities collections.

Grants to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, for-profits, government agencies, IHEs, and others for research related to obesity. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take up to six weeks to complete. Funding is intended to support studies that assess the effectiveness of pending programs and policies that are likely to prevent or reduce obesity in a given population by reducing energy intake, increasing activity, or decreasing sedentary behavior.

Awards to USA and Canada young scientists to acknowledge exceptional contributions to the study of skin disease. Funds may be used for salaries, equipment, and materials necessary for conducting and completing dermatological research. The awards are intended to recognize outstanding scientists according to region. The purpose of the award program is to give global recognition to individual scientists who advance understanding of the field while paving the way for new and improved treatments for skin diseases.

Rebates to USA and territories state and local agencies, nonprofit and for-profit contractors, nonprofit school transportation associations, and Indian tribal entities for the acquisition of reduced or zero-emission school buses. Applicants are advised that the required registrations must be completed prior to applying. The goal of the program is to mitigate diesel exhaust produced by school buses.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International individuals with doctoral degrees for sarcoma research. Eligible research projects must be translational or clinical in nature and must be directly applicable to sarcoma. Funding is intended to support the fellow's salary for the duration of a one-year project.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International early-career researchers affiliated with nonprofit research institutions, hospitals, and universities for research related to Parkinson's disease. Funding is intended to assist researchers who are underrepresented in the field. Applications from investigators from underrepresented countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America are particularly encouraged.

Fellowship of $60,000 to a USA, Canada, or International postdoctoral or clinical researcher to conduct research related to sarcoma. The purpose of the program is to support translational or clinical research to advance knowledge about sarcoma and help the successful applicant establish a career path in this field.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International researchers affiliated with nonprofit organizations, IHEs, hospitals, laboratories, government agencies, and for-profit entities for research related to autoimmune disease. Funding is intended for projects designed to offer proof-of-concept data that can be used for the downstream development of larger, multi-year collaborative projects if successful. Applicants must hold an M.D., D.M.D, D.V.M., Ph.D., or equivalent and have a faculty position or equivalent at a college, university, medical school, or other research facility. Applications from persons with disabilities, women, and members of minority groups underrepresented in the sciences are encouraged.

Grants to USA IHEs and nonprofit and for-profit organizations to provide technical assistance to eligible renewable energy collaboratives. Funding is intended to strengthen the collaboratives and make them into a valuable resource and source of information within their states.

Opportunity for USA and India companies to develop satellite-tracking technologies. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended to develop algorithms with the ability to track objects that are trying to evade detection. The bilateral challenge will culminate in a virtual pitch event in February 2025 and is part of the INDUS-X initiative to continue to vitalize the U.S.-India defense industrial cooperation.

Grants to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, IHEs, government agencies, and Tribal governments for the preservation of humanities materials. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take up to several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for the planning and implementation of sustainable conservation measures that mitigate deterioration, prolong the useful life of collections, reduce energy consumption, and strengthen institutions’ ability to anticipate and respond to disasters.

Funding is intended to support nonprofits providing community benefit in the areas of education, health, animals, arts, climate and environment, civic, and human services. Eligible applicants benefit residents of the St. Vrain Valley, including Longmont and surrounding areas.

Grants to USA schools, government agencies, tribal organizations, nonprofit organizations, and agricultural producers for programs to increase access to local foods for eligible schools. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. While individual farm-to-school programs are shaped by their unique community, geographic region, and scope, the term ‘farm to school’ is generally understood to include efforts that connect schools with local or regional farmers, food processors, and manufacturers in order to serve local or regionally procured foods in school cafeterias.

Cooperative agreements to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, government agencies, IHEs, and tribes for the creation of a nationwide searchable database of historic newspapers. Interested applicants are advised that required registrations may take as long as one month to complete.

Fellowships to USA, Canada, and International doctoral and postdoctoral researchers for research projects related to the Holocaust. Eligible research projects are those that focus on the religious, socio-cultural, economic, legal, ethical, moral, and political aspects of the Holocaust, the immediate historical context in which the Holocaust took place, and other related topics. The Fellowship program funds research and writing, allowing scholars to travel to Holocaust-related archives, including newly uncovered archival Holocaust resources.

Grants may be used to support comprehensive, creative, solution-based models that help to reduce suffering, lead to systemic change, and promote a more compassionate society. The Foundation has committed to providing support to the Tompkins County SPCA as the sole support for companion animals.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International researchers, health professionals, and scientists for research related to Alzheimer's disease. The purpose of this program is to support projects investigating the cause of Alzheimer's disease. Eligible projects must be narrowly focused on elucidating the possible roles of infectious agents in the causation of Alzheimer’s disease. The awards will support innovative research including basic, clinical, and/or non-traditional approaches. This includes proposals that span the breadth of the microbial world including bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses, and microbial synergy among other possibilities.

Fellowships to USA K-12 teachers to work with leading scientists on conservation research projects. The fellowship is a summer outdoor experience that provides teachers with new knowledge and perspective to share with their students. Fellows participate in recording observations and collecting data during the day, and in the evenings work with other fellowship participants to develop new lesson plans for use in the classroom.

Award of $2,000 to a USA, Canada, or International individual to recognize contributions to the field of mental health. Eligible recipients are psychologists within the first ten years of their postdoctoral degree. This award is intended to recognize efforts to advocate for, inform, and improve the mental health and well-being of families and children, particularly through policy.

Grants of up to $5,000 to USA individual medical students and residency programs to engage students in research studies related to the field of emergency medicine. Funding is intended to encourage medical students to take part in and be exposed to emergency medicine research. Proposals may be submitted by either a specific medical student or by an Emergency Medicine residency program wishing to sponsor a medical student research project.

Grants to USA small and medium-sized manufacturing facilities and waste and water treatment facilities for projects to improve energy efficiency. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to finalize. Funding is intended for applicants to implement recommendations made in energy assessments.

Awards to USA, Canada, and International journalists and student journalists to recognize exceptional reporting on disabilities. Entries can be presented digitally, broadcasted, or printed. Eligible applicants include professional journalists as well as college student journalists.

Grants to USA professional writers for critical financial support during times of economic difficulty. Funding is intended to assist journalists, poets, authors, translators, screenwriters, and playwrights who can demonstrate how the funds will help them address a short-term emergency situation.

Grants of up to $10,000 to USA medical residents for research related to emergency medicine. Funding is intended to promote research within the field, advance patient care in emergency medicine settings, and promote the academic growth of researchers in the field. Emergency medicine research is broadly defined as scientific investigation designed to furnish new knowledge relating to emergency medical care. Such investigations may focus on basic science research, clinical research, preventive medicine, epidemiology, health care policy, or emergency medicine teaching and education.

Grants to Colorado organizations to provide care to cancer patients. Funding is intended for organizations that offer a broad range of services to adults and children. Eligible uses of funds include counseling, medical treatment, and hospice care. The purpose of the program is to improve and expand cancer-related services throughout the state.

Opportunity for USA community-based organizations, managed care organizations, and school-to-work transition sites to promote health among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants will take part in a training and certification program to educate individuals with IDD about health and healthy choices.

Eligible types of activities include removing existing barriers or campaigning to prevent the installation of new dams or hydropower projects.

Fellowships to USA sophomores at accredited institutions of higher education to participate in a paid summer internship program. Participants will receive mentorship, a paid internship, and a stipend to be used for education expenses. This program is intended to help participants develop their entrepreneurial acumen. The program will take place in New York City.

Grants of up to $15,000 to USA, Canada, and International nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that impact at-risk youth. Eligible uses of funds include program, project, or general operating support. The mission of the Foundation is to reduce recidivism by strengthening families of incarcerated individuals.

Grants of up to $10,000 to Colorado food-related businesses to strengthen capacity and improve operations. Funding is intended to assist small and medium-size companies that produce in, source from, and focus on local and regional markets, or serve multiple small- and mid-scale food and farm businesses. Fellowships of $8,000 to USA, Canada, and International conservation professionals to attend a one-month training program in the US. The program curriculum will be taught by a faculty of international experts who will work with fellows to explore new methods of employing market-based approaches to address environmental issues.
