In-Kind Grants of $200 in the form of gift cards to USA individuals and community, school, and nonprofit groups for youth-led community service projects. Funding is intended for youth to identify and address a priority community need through a service campaign for animals, people, or the environment.

Successful Roots & Shoots mini-grant applications display elements of:

- Youth Leadership: Young group members turn their passions into service campaigns that positively impact their communities.
- Service Learning: Service learning extends beyond community service to include an educational component and celebration of the group's work.
- Roots & Shoots Model: Processes outlined in the Roots & Shoots 4-Step Model

Mini-grants are awarded in amounts of $200 in the form of a VISA gift card.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible you must reside in the United States and be a registered member of Roots and Shoots. Registration is free.

Individuals, community groups, school groups, non-profit groups, and families leading service learning campaigns are welcome to apply.

Individuals who have already received a mini-grant during the same school year are not eligible to apply until the following school year. Group projects that have already received support from a Roots and Shoots mini-grant (via other members of the group, organizations or colleagues) are not eligible to receive additional grants during the same school year. Groups residing outside of the United States are not eligible.

Pre-Application Information:

Mini-grants are available on a first-come, first-serve basis while funding is available.

Your mini-grant will be mailed to at the address you provided in your application form in the form of a VISA gift card. You should receive your mini-grant within 6 weeks of the application deadline.
