Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $10,000 to Colorado nonprofit and faith-based organizations, municipalities, and educational institutions for a range of projects that strengthen communities in eligible locations. Focus areas include youth, diversity, and community engagement. Applicants must serve the residents of Berthoud, Loveland, and Estes Valley.

  • Berthoud: The grantmaking committee encourages funding requests that build community engagement within Berthoud, preserve Berthoud as a great place to live and raise kids, and achieve obvious and meaningful outcomes. The committee highly encourages proposals for high-impact, catalytic projects.
  • Loveland: The grantmaking committee will only accept funding requests for projects and organizations that benefit Loveland residents; preference will be given to organizations that specifically serve Loveland youth.
  • Estes Valley: The grantmaking committee supports projects and/or programs that directly serve the residents of the Estes Valley, enhance the Estes Valley community, and provide support to the diverse local population; and supports innovative, sustainable actions that will make a positive difference in the future, reducing needs and removing barriers that impede success. Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate collaboration with other nonprofits; and to organizations that have not received a grant from the fund in the last 12 months.

Estimated Size of Grant:

- Berthoud: Grants awarded in recent years have ranged from $1,000 to $5,000.
- Loveland: Funding requests should not exceed $5,000.
- Estes Valley: Grants awarded in recent years have ranged from $500 to $10,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Community Foundation makes grants to 501(c)3 charitable entities, educational institutions, churches, and municipalities.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals or businesses.

Berthoud:
The grantmaking committee generally does not support proposals for operating expenses. Due to limited funding available, nonprofits should not expect or depend upon receiving grant support from this fund in future years. Please note, following the 2021 cycle, preference will be given to organizations that have not received a grant from the fund in the last 12 months.

Loveland:
The grantmaking committee will not consider funding requests for salaries or for capital projects. Due to limited funding available, grant awardees from last year's cycle are not eligible to receive a grant this year.

Estes Valley:
The grantmaking committee generally does not support fundraising events, endowments, development funds, general operating expenses, or large capital projects, except for capital projects that hold high community interest and are consistent with the goals of the committee. Due to limited funding available, nonprofits should not expect or depend upon receiving grant support from this fund in future years.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for submitting a grant application is Thursday, July 22, at 5 p.m.

An agency located outside of the named communities may submit an application if it serves those communities and the agency’s funding request meets the criteria.
