The purpose of funding is to encourage area residents to adopt healthy lifestyles, to increase public safety, and to foster independence. Programs must benefit residents of Pitkin County.

Areas of Interest

Pitkin County supports nonprofit organizations that provide a range of health care and human services to the citizens and workers of the county. This includes programs that address health care education and outreach, prevention, intervention and treatment. Access to services for all, regardless of a client's ability to pay, is valued and encouraged.

Health and Human Service Agencies are defined as programs addressing issues related to youth, family, and senior well-being, physical health, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.

Community Nonprofit Agencies are defined as programs that enhance and enrich the quality of life in Pitkin County, complement basic health and human services offered through providing additional needed services, and optimize efforts to improve and sustain the County's natural resources.

Community Goals & Objectives:

  1. Family and Youth Well-Being - Promote the social, emotional, and well-being of families and youth.
  2. Physical Health and Public Health - Promote the well-being of individuals.
  3. Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention - Promote the psychological well-being of individuals, provide treatment, and promote prevention.
  4. The Well-Being of Seniors - Promote the social, emotional, economic, and physical well-being of senior adults.
  5. Cultural Treasures and Environmental Quality - Promote and optimize the quality of life for residents and workers in Pitkin County and enhance and sustain natural resources.
